Itineraries
Updated
These plans are built for real harbour days — ferry queues, vehicle fees, sun and energy included — not fantasy “do every headland” checklists. Each plan shows transport mode, packing, ferry tips, parking notes and what to skip.
Every itinerary still defers to NSW National Parks for track status, fees and alerts. Print any plan from the page, or grab the free day-trip checklist & ferry planner under maps & downloads.
Official sources for the morning you go: park page · local alerts.
Which plan fits you?
- First visit, limited time → half-day ferry escape (Watsons Bay + South Head pattern).
- Kids + water → Nielsen Park family beach day; keep walks optional.
- Golden hour skyline → sunset Bradleys Head (check last light and transport).
- Manly ferry + ocean headland → North Head + Manly plan with last-mile honesty.
- Ambitious but realistic full day → full-day harbour loop only if you pick one primary + one contrast.
- Driving Mosman lookouts → use the drive plan and verify published vehicle fees.
Common failure mode: stacking South Head + Bradleys + North Head in one day until everyone is sunburnt on a late ferry. Pick a winner.
