Fairfax Walk suits visitors who already want a Manly ferry day and can plan last-mile transport to North Head. Fit walkers and photography groups get big-sky ocean and harbour-mouth energy that feels different from inner-harbour Bradleys Head.
Poor fit as a free five-minute add-on after a full South Head morning. Also poor fit for groups that only wanted Corso shopping and a swim — be honest about the product.
Manly ferry is not the trailhead
The classic mistake is treating Manly Wharf as if it were Telegraph Saddle. You still need a last-mile plan. Budget time, money and energy for bus, transfer or a long approach walk.

How the walk feels
Expect formed headland walking with bushland, lookouts and wind. Distance and grade should be confirmed on current NPWS materials; plan roughly one to two-plus hours depending on segment and photo stops.
The product is scale: ocean cliffs and big sky. The risk is under-packing water and over-stacking with other headlands the same day.
